What is the best time in the year to seed?
Ground preparation is the most important step in seeding. You can seed
March through October, depending on the weather conditions of course.
Although, the ideal time to seed is late August through October, when
the temperature is 60-70 degrees, we have adequate rain, and there is
no competition with weeds.
Is it all right to install trees and shrubs in the winter?
Yes, as long as the ground is not frozen and the root ball has been
stored properly. In the winter there is plenty of moisture in ground
so you may not need to water your tree or shrub as much.
Can sod be installed in the winter?
Yes, as long as the ground conditions are favorable. It is a good time
because sod is in the dormant stage and will require little
maintenance. Just remember, ground preparation is the key to
installing sod.
What is the best type of mulch to use?
Dark Supreme Hardwood Mulch. This is a twice shredded dark mulch that
is natural to the environment, composted well to enrich soil, helps
maintain moisture, and provides insulation.
Does Unique do landscaping on residential and
commercial sites?

Pavers have a longer life span level. Since they are an individual
unit, pavers allow for more movement during freezing and thawing to
prevent cracking. They are aesthetically more pleasing and will

Yes, Unique does provide written estimates. Our well experienced sales

Do your plants come with a guarantee?
If we install your plants, we guarantee them for one year with a one
time replacement.
What kind of mulch do you have?
Unique can supply two hardwoods. Gold, which is triple shredded and
Dark Supreme, which is double shredded, both are very dark in color.
The best is Red Hemlock. Two varieties of wood chips, Premium Chips
(screened wood chips) and Regular Chips (includes sticks).
Do you put additives into your Hardwood Mulch?
No, our mulch is all natural hardwood bark.
Does Unique do snow removal?
Yes, Unique provides our customers with the most up to date snow
removal equipment. Unique has over 20 snow removal trucks and loaders,
all radio dispatched. During a snow emergency, Unique can be reached
24 hours a day.
Does Unique rent equipment?
Yes, Unique provides a wide range of heavy equipment with experienced
operators. There is no job that is too big or small.
How do I determine how much material I need?
If you are in need of material such as sand, gravel, soil, or mulch,
take the square feet of the area, multiply by the depth, and divide by
27. Example: 10 X 10 area 3" deep, 100 x .25 divided by 27 = .93. You
would need 1 cubic yards for this area.
How much is one cubic yard of mulch?
One cubic yard of mulch is equivalent to 9, 3 cubic foot bags and will
cover 160 square feet 2" deep.
How much material will my pick up truck hold?
Every truck is different, the customer has the final say on what the
truck will hold. Small trucks hold almost one yard of gravel, sand, or
soil. A small truck can hold 1-2 yards of mulch. Full size trucks can
hold 1-1.5 yards of gravel, sand, or soil. A full size truck can hold
2-3 yards of mulch.
How much material can you deliver in a truck
load?
That varies since we have different sizes of trucks. A one ton can
hold 8 yards of mulch, 5 yards of soil, sand, and gravel. A single
axle can hold 20 yards of mulch, 10 yards of topsoil, 8 yards of sand
and gravel. A tandem can hold 45 yards of mulch, 20 yards of soil, 16
yards of sand and gravel. We also have dump trailers and walking floor
semi trucks available for those larger deliveries.
